College Outreach

National Collaboration

The College is regularly called upon to participate in national initiatives. The College’s Registrar, Dr. Gus Grant, sits on the board of the Federation of Medical Regulatory Authorities of Canada (FMRAC) and, after having initially chaired the group, is the board liaison on the FMRAC Working Group on Anti-Indigenous Racism.

Dr. Grant remains on the Advisory Committee of PrescribeIT, a working group seeking to implement safe e-prescribing and has recently been appointed to the Board of the Canadian Resident Matching Service (CaRMS).

Dr. Grant represented the College and FMRAC on Health Canada’s Task Force to develop model standards for medical assistance in dying (MAiD).

Nationally, the College’s Deputy Registrar, Dr. Keri McAdoo, is a member of FMRAC’s Registration Working Group, which works toward shared licensing standards across the country.

Within the province,
Dr. Grant and Dr. McAdoo took leading roles in the development of the Atlantic Registry, which promotes the mobility of physicians throughout our region.

Provincial Collaboration

Within the province, Dr. Grant and Dr. McAdoo took leading roles in the development of the Atlantic Registry, which promotes the mobility of physicians throughout our region.

Dr. Grant is on the board of the Prescription Monitoring Program and has been active on the province’s Virtual Care Advisory Group. He continues to work closely with the Offices of Health Care Professional Recruitment and Retention.

The College enjoys multiple touchpoints with the Faculty of Medicine at Dalhousie University and the health authorities.

We participate in virtual rounds, presenting to postgraduate trainees and medical students, as well as continuing professional development (CPD) events such as the Dalhousie Refresher.
